Gwilym Lee
Gwilym is most recognised for his portrayal of Brian May in the Oscar, BAFTA and multi-award winning international smash hit BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY opposite Rami Malek. He is also well known for his role as Grigor in the award winning hit Hulu show, THE GREAT alongside Nicholas Hoult and Elle Fanning, written by Tony McNamara and most recently he has been seen leading the second season of SAS ROGUE HEROES, Steven Knight’s critically acclaimed WWII drama for BBC. In film, his other credits include Robert Zemecki’s feature HERE starring Tom Hanks.
For television, he can be seen in Amazon Prime’s upcoming series TOP END BUB, the follow up series to the 2019 hit Australian independent feature film TOP END WEDDING, directed by Wayne Blair, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
Gwilym is also well known to UK audiences for his role as Detective Sergeant Charlie Nelson in the long-running ITV series MIDSOMER MURDERS, in which he starred for three seasons.
Gwilym has also enjoyed an accomplished career on stage – most recently he performed the part of Gareth Southgate in James Graham’s DEAR ENGLAND at the National Theatre to critical acclaim. He received outstanding reviews for his lead role in Peter Gill’s VERSAILLES at the Donmar Warehouse and prior to that he won the Ian Charleson award for his role as Edgar in KING LEAR opposite Derek Jacobi. He was nominated again for the Ian Charleson award for his performance in Oedipus at the National Theatre.
