Naomi Ackie is best known for her powerful and critically acclaimed portrayal of Whitney Houston in the Sony biopic I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY, produced by Compelling Pictures in collaboration with the Houston Estate.
Film-wise, Naomi most recently appeared in Black Bear’s latest action thriller SHELTER alongside Jason Statham and Bill Nighy. Other recent credits include Christopher Columbus’ THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB and Eva Victor’s critically-acclaimed debut feature SORRY, BABY. For her performance in the latter, she was awarded Best Supporting Performance at the 2026 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Additional film credits include BLINK TWICE, the directorial debut of Zoë Kravitz, opposite Channing Tatum, and MICKEY 17, directed by Oscar-winner Bong Joon Ho.
Naomi will next be seen onscreen in Boots Riley’s next project I LOVE BOOSTERS, which is set to release on 22nd May. She has also recently wrapped on Marvel’s CLAYFACE, in which she is set to star as Caitlin Bates.
Her exceptional work in film earned her a BAFTA Rising Star nomination in 2023.
Naomi’s earlier standout performances include her role in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX – THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, and her breakout in William Oldroyd’s LADY MACBETH, which earned her the Most Promising Newcomer award at the 2017 British Independent Film Awards. On television, she delivered a BAFTA-winning performance as Bonnie in the Channel 4/Netflix series THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD.
