
David Morrissey
David can currently be seen in the ITV drama GONE written by George Kay, for which he has received rave reviews. He plays an inscrutably composed headmaster who falls under mounting suspicion after his wife mysteriously disappears. David will next be seen co-leading Russell T. Davies’s new Channel 4 show TIP TOE opposite Alan Cumming. Also upcoming, following on from a critically acclaimed first and second series, David will reprise his role as DCS Ian St Clair in Season 3 of the BAFTA winning BBC drama SHERWOOD alongside Lesley Manville.
Excitingly, David has recently been announced as Paul McCartney’s father in Sam Mendes’ upcoming biopics of THE BEATLES for Sony. He’s currently filming a lead role in the Channel 4 drama THE SIEGE alongside Danny Dyer and Motaz Malhees, based on the bestselling book by Ben Macinty and directed by BAFTA winning Lewis Arnold.
Perhaps best known for his villainous portrayal of THE GOVERNOR in AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD, David can most recently be seen in Apple’s PRIME TARGETand leading the second series of James Graham’s BBC drama SHERWOOD. David’s significant TV credits include the RED RIDING trilogy for Channel 4 alongside Andrew Garfield, STATE OF PLAY directed by David Yates, for which he was BAFTA nominated for Best Actor, and the second season of the critically acclaimed Starz/BBC One mystery THE MISSING. David can also be seen in the BBC’s THE CITY AND THE CITY, BRITANNIA for Amazon Studios, and in a season-long recurring arc on the second season of EXTANT for DreamWorks TV & CBS opposite Halle Berry.
David’s film credits include WELCOME TO THE PUNCH for director Eran Creevy, where he starred alongside James McAvoy and Mark Strong; NOWHERE BOY opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson; CENTURION opposite Michael Fassbender, directed by Neil Marshall; and THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL opposite Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. On stage, David starred in the hugely successful run of THE HANGMEN at the Royal Court Theatre, as The Hangman “Harry Wade”, and he recently lead the cast in THE LOVER / THE COLLECTION at Theatre Royal Bath. David’s acclaimed series THE DRIVER, was recently developed for American Television by A&E Studios / AMC and will star Giancarlo Esposito, David will also serve as an executive producer. David can currently be seen in the Netflix feature THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10 alongside Keira Knightley, and BBC series DADDY ISSUES S2 opposite Aimee Lou Wood. David is currently filming Russell T Davies’ TV series TIP TOE for Channel 4.
