David Morrissey

David Morrissey is best known for his villainous portrayal of “The Governor” in AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD. He has notably starred in The RED RIDING Trilogy for Channel 4 alongside Andrew Garfield and STATE OF PLAY directed by David Yates, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor. Morrissey also starred as the leading role in BBC’S SHERWOOD, a crime drama from James Graham. As well as the second season of the critically acclaimed Starz/BBC One mystery drama THE MISSING.

David’s film credits include WELCOME TO THE PUNCH for director Eran Creevy, where he starred alongside James McAvoy and Mark Strong. NOWHERE BOY opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson; CENTURION opposite Michael Fassbender, directed by Neil Marshall; and THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL opposite Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. He can also be seen in a season-long recurring arc on the 2nd season of EXTANT for DreamWorks TV & CBS opposite Halle Berry. David completed a hugely successful run of the critically acclaimed play THE HANGMEN at the Royal Court Theatre, starring as The Hangman “Harry Wade”. Next up on stage for David is the lead role in the Harold Pinter plays THE LOVER / THE COLLECTION at Theatre Royal Bath. He can most recently be seen in the BBC’s THE CITY AND THE CITY, and BRITANNIA for Amazon Studios. David’s acclaimed series THE DRIVER, was recently developed for American Television by A&E Studios / AMC and will star Giancarlo Esposito, David will also serve as an executive producer. David will next be seen in BBC’s DADDY ISSUES opposite Aimee Lou-Wood and the next season of BBC hit-show SHERWOOD.
