Peter Capaldi
Peter might be best known for his BAFTA-winning portrayal of the ferocious spin doctor MALCOLM TUCKER in four seasons of THE THICK OF IT. In which he was awarded two British Comedy Awards. He also starred in the film spin off, IN THE LOOP. Peter is equally as well known for his performance as the 12th incarnation of BBC’s cult hit DOCTOR WHO.
Peter has played many iconic characters. In Armando lannucci’s BIFA-nominated adaptation THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD he played MR MICAWBER and super villain THE THINKER in James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD. He played the older SIEGFIELD in the late Terence Davies’ biography of Siegfried Sassoon, BENEDICITION. Peter is well known for his portrayal of MR CURRY in PADDINGTON and PADDINGTON 2 and has played roles in movies as diverse as DANGEROUS LIAISONS, LOCAL HERO, LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM and WORLD WAR Z.
As a Writer and Director, Peter wrote and starred in, comedy road movie, SOFT TOP HARD SHOULDER. His short film, FRANZ KAFKA’S IT”S A WONDERFUL LIFE was awarded a BAFTA and the Academy Award for Best Short Film in both Screenplay and Directing. Peter has also written and directed within television, notable credits include the first season of award-winning BBC 4 series GETTING ON, and BBC 4 Comedy THE CRICKLEWOOD GREATS.
In a long career he has appeared in many notable television productions including PRIME SUSPECT, MINDER, POIROT, SKINS, PEEP SHOW, THE MUSKETEERS, THE HOUR, THE DEVIL’S HOUR. Peter is well known for his theatre work including ABSURDIA and CONSTELLATIONS for the Donmar Warehouse. THE JUDAS KISS, FEELGOOD and THE LADY KILLERS in London’s West End.
Peter is also a talented musician. This year he released SWEET ILLUSIONS, his second album of original songs. He is set to tour later this year.
